(quote from Barack Obama's inauguration address)
Putting aside political parties and political beliefs, there is no denying the fact that today is historic. I hope that it "defines a generation". A generation that loves eachother, respects eachother for who they are as a person, rather than the color of their skin. I pray that God will guide our new president as he makes decisions that will effect our future and the future of our children. As I read books like Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry and The Cay to my students, I can't help but be in awe of the ability for a nation to change so drastically over the course of 50 years. I can't imagine what it was like to live in a world where people were considered inferior simply because they were a different color. And now our president is African-American. Historic.

Today I keep thinking that for my son, having a black president will be NORMAL. And to me, there is something symbolic about that...about how I hope it defines our attitudes as a society and his beliefs as he grows to become a man. I've felt excited and a bit emotional about it all day...
cute pic :) I feel the same as you...though I did NOT vote for him.
I'm having a giveaway!
Agreed! I had the chills in part...not so much bc of the speech itself but just of the reality!
hehe, I love that you bribed them to get the picture you wanted. :)
