School Days

In high school, back to school meant new clothes, Friday night football and friends. I used to write down all the fun events that I was anticipating between the start of school and Christmas break. There was spirit week, homecoming, formal and the list goes on and on. Back to school was exciting!

First day of preschool-- CHEESE!

Now days, I'm not quite as enthusiastic. Though there are certain aspects I'm looking forward to, mainly "Back to School" is a dreaded phrase. This year I'm not the only one going back to school, Aubrey is also headed to school this year. Last week was her very first week of preschool. I'm trying to phase her in, so the long days aren't too much of a shock for her. Her first days of preschool went well considering she's used to really only being with me or my sister. She was REALLY excited about "play school" (a name she picked up while watching Caillou). She talked all about how she was going to learn in the classroom with her teacher and draw and read and sing. Unfortunately, when I went to drop her off they were playing outside for a while. She was disappointed that she wouldn't get to start her day in the classroom, but she really enjoyed checking out her new room with me. Her teacher said that she did a great job, but she wasn't really a fan of eating or nap time. No big surprises there! :) (Oh, and they served hot tuna casserole for lunch so I don't really blame her for not eating any). The next day we brought a special "rest time" blanket and they served chicken nuggets for lunch, so things went a bit better. The only issue on day 2 was with her peeing problems. She was holding it and complaining of a tummy ache....but that's a whole different blog- we're on another potty training hiatus per doctor's advice.

Trying to figure out this biking business. Those preschoolers mean business!

I'm already feeling guilty about the long days she'll be spending at preschool when I start up work next week. I don't really know why...if anything, I know that preschool with be good for her and she only goes two days a week. I just feel like 7:30-4 is a long day for a little girl. It'll be an adjustment for both of us. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my last few days off. Last week while Aubrey was at preschool, I got a pedicure, shopped, cleaned and made a couple of craft projects...I can't wait to see what I accomplish tomorrow and Friday!

One of the wreaths I made for out front

a dipes and wipes for a friend-- love that adorable corduroy!

What a huge huge week! I can see how it would be a big adjustment for you both- she's got the best of both worlds...a Mommy who adores her and getting to make some new friends. Your wreath and dipes and wipes! Creativity flows for me at least when things are going well, so I'm taking that as a good sign! = )
