Thursday was our 4th anniversary. In the grand scheme of life, four years doesn't seem like that long, but considering my parents were married for only about 3 years...we're an old married couple :) (Not that I'm modeling my marriage after theirs, but you get the idea). Last year we stayed at the beach for a couple of days for our anniversary and this year we were going to go to Yosemite, but then we decided that I should go to Washington to visit my grandma, so due to budget constraints we opted for a day trip. We decided to go to Monterey Bay Aquarium.
The weather was beautiful there ( a high of 68* and sunny)! We got there around 11:30, but realizing we forgot Aubrey's stroller (that wasn't smart) we had to find a Target so we could buy a cheap stroller to use for the day. The aquarium had some incredible exhibits that we all enjoyed. Aubrey's favorite area was the splash zone; specifically an area designed for 3 and under. She got to play in the water and ride the waves on a water bed type of mattress. She had fun! She conked out as we were in the Outer Zone-- a soothing exhibit with giant sun fish, dolphin fish and schools of little silver fish. It had dim lighting and soothing music...perfect for napping.
We finished our day at Bubba Gump Shrimp factory where we had an excellent meal. It was such a great anniversary and I'm glad we spent it together as a family. Next year, when Aubrey is a little older I'm sure we'll want to enjoy a weekend of just us time. Oh and did I mention the incredible gift Justin bought me? Check out these elegant pearl earrings (they actually have some diamond pavee around the edge). Very Audrey Hepburn :) I'm blessed to have such a wonderful husband!

I love Monterey! Did you know that I went to college up there? We actually had a winter formal in the Monterey Aquarium. It is so beautiful there and I miss it. Cost of living was way too high for me to stay though. God always knows best. Did you like Bubba Gump’s? I am not much of a sea food fan, but the Seafood Trash (I think that is what it was called) is supposed to be really good. Was Forrest there on his bench? A man used to dress up like him for the tourist. I am so glad that you had fun in my old stomping ground. Oh, and congrats on your anniversary.

Looks like you had fun! We have taken Maggie with us on our anniversary date (mainly, before she could talk)! I hated it when people thought it was weird. Its our dang anniversary we will spend it how we want. I love the earrings. What a good shopper. Ill have to tell Kurt you can buy your wife jewelry even if she has a wedding ring already! 4 yrs is a long time to stick to this marriage thing. I think you should be proud. You and Justin are great together, Ive always liked him (well, and you-but thats a give in). Congrats on 4 yrs.
