Gettin' her groove on!

...or not. :)

Aubrey had her first dance recital on June 5th and though her intentions were good, for both her ballet and tap performance, she stood still the entire time. She did look darn cute standing there though! In her defense, the classes were pretty chaotic and I think maybe 2 out of 10 kids actually knew/did most of the dance. The funny thing is, during the rehearsal she ran off the stage hysterically sobbing during the finale because of all the kids and chaos. During the recital that was the ONLY part she even moved in. Luckily, I was the only parent they allowed back stage during that portion in case we had another meltdown, and I was able to catch it on video. Unfortunately, I don't know which direction to hold the camera. :)

A learning experience for all!

***Highlights***

- Aubrey was in a GREAT mood thanks to a 3 hour nap that day!

- All the girls really loved making bracelets, and Aubrey was great at sharing (this is usually not an area of strength)

- All the girls looked so adorable in those big, green tutus.

- I enjoyed the other moms who volunteered to keeps the ballerinas occupied and contained during the recital.

- This was the FIRST time since starting the class that Aubrey really played with and interacted with the other girls. I almost feel like the classes would have gone better if there had been some type of organized meeting beforehand.

So my child-- ALWAYS in charge!

- Did I mention the girls looked adorable?!

- Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) brought Aubrey flowers.

- Aubrey felt so special!!

- It was HOT and there was no air conditioning in the dressing room or auditorium. Thanks to all our relatives for enduring the heat.

-The awards that took an extra 30 minutes.

- Did I mention the heat?!

- The chaotic and overly anal check-out procedure...in the HEAT!

- It started at 7 and didn't end until 9:30...pretty late for little ones.

-Gracie wasn't there to join in the fun :(
