Hats Off

Hats off to the full-time working mommies out there. Not that all working mommies don't have full-time jobs, they SURELY do. In fact, many times, my days at work are "easier", than my days at home. It's not the "work" part of work that is challenging, but rather the juggling act, trying to get it ALL done. Trying to be a mommy and an employee. Trying to be a wife and a teacher. To the mommies who work outside of the home...full-time, I'm dumbfounded at how you get it all done. I work 50% of the time, and on the days that I work, everything else goes to the backburner. The dishes often sit in the sink (don't worry, not for the entire 2-3 days). The laundry piles high. My stress level increases, and I'm left feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. And don't even get me started on my "long" weeks (3 days). And yet, some of you do it all.week.long. I'm in awe. Especially because I know that many of you would rather be at home (at least part-time). My transition back to work has gone rather smoothly, but it's reminded me of how thankful I should be for the days I get to be with these wild ones (and Juliet, of course). It's reminded me of how thankful I am that my sister and I have gotten to help raise eachother's kids. It's reminded me that it doesn't matter if my house looks perfect, my laundry gets put away or if Aubrey's hair gets brushed, but instead I need to take time to enjoy my days with my kiddos and let them know that they're the top priority in this juggling act of life!

Awww, I love it Barbie. Love your honesty. Your girls, family, Justin, students, friends- we are all blessed, to say the least, by you.

Tell Aubrey to pull up her britches.

I'm with you on this one. My job is tough enough being at home most days, and I deeply respect anyone who can/has to juggle both. But you're right, the important thing is to make our children know they're important. My mantra of late is "be a mary, not a martha".

Yes, the hair brushing, clothes matching, matching socks and bow days are over for this family! We're lucky just to make it out the door together. And yes, I often compare myself to other moms and wonder how, HOW they do it all!
