Who would have guessed?
10 years ago no one would have guessed that my very "opposite" sister and I would live five houses down from eachother, be the caretaker of eachother's children and the best of friends. How could they have known?
We were opposites, complete opposites. She was the cooler, rebelious, older sister. I was the responsible, goody, goody, know-it-all who wanted to boss her around. We fought...HARD! I'm talking nail scars, phone through the lamp, screaming, crying fights. We fought over EVERYTHING. We even went to different schools (she went to Garces, I went to West).
Did I mention we were opposites?
And somehow the years have healed our relationship. We've grown up, matured. Our priorities have changed and so have we. And here we are...10 years later and five houses apart.
One of the best benefits of our close relationship (and living quarters) is seeing Aubrey develop a relationship with her Auntie. There is no place Aubrey would rather go, than down to her Auntie's house. She loves walking her baby doll down to Auntie's and she even knows which house is theirs. She eagerly knocks on the door and literally gets giddy with excitement. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful older sister and one day I hope Aubrey gets a sister too. Until then, hopefully she'll be close to her SOON-to-come-out cousin Reagan. I have a feeling that these two little girls will be taking plenty of walks to their Auntie's houses to see eachother :)

That is darling. I can't wait for the days when Samuel and Henry can ride their little bikes or whatever back and forth between mine and Lorie's house.
I swear, if one of us decides to move, the other will have to follow. I've come quite accustomed to the "can I come borrow a boullion cube/egg/teaspoon of cumin/thing of propane" that is so convenient as their neighbor... also, I thoroughly enjoy the random pop-ins.
You are so lucky to have your siter nearby! When my sister and I were in high school, we would fight like cats and dogs over our clothes. She would lend me something and then I would accidently ruin it by sitting in gum, or something equally unfortunate and unforseen.
Oh what a sweet post. You and Christy compliment each other so well. You guys are lucky to share in the care of each other's kids. Now we need to resolve 2 issues, first when will Reagan come out? Second-when will Barbie make Aubrey a big sister?
oh so cute. I love that picture. and can't to meet little Reagan!
I love this, because I live down the block from my husband's sister-- who is like my sister. "The walk to auntie's house" is so fun-- and the visit there is even better! I love the way you wrote about it.
Oh, I got teary. I so hope my girls will be close.
I need another post! More Barbie and Aubrey please:)
