Lately, no matter how clean I keep the house, every morning the clutter comes out in the form of babies, blankets and pillows. Aubrey's newest hobby is to put each and every baby (like 30) down for a nap with a pillow and blanket. She can literally spend HOURS playing by herself as she pats their backs, covers and recovers them, and reads them bedtime stories. The first few days I fought this new found habit, because the mess of it all gave me anxiety. I'd put everything away at night, hoping that she wouldn't ask to get it all out again. Each day though, she would wake up excitedly asking about her babies and blankies. I've given in and decided to embrace her new independence. Lately, she's added her dress up clothes to the whole rountine and it just adds to the chaos. Yes, it is a mess, but it's a beautiful mess. One that I won't get to have for very many more years. I'll treasure the mess while I can.

Amen! When we were watching my nieces last week along with my mother-in-law, she about gave herself a coronary constantly following the girls around nagging them to pick up their dress-up clothes and dolls and other messes. I guess I was more laissez faire about the whole thing... let them be kids... it won't last forever. :) And really it isn't worth all the stress to worry about silly stuff like that.
LOVE IT. I'm learning to embrace the messes too, knowing that all too soon my hands will be even more tied with baby and split attention. Love that girl of yours =)
Great perspective, glad you can enjoy this and let go of the natural desire to be neat! I know that will be hard for me one day too!! :)
Oh I love it Barbie! She is just too cute, and I think it looks like a FUN mess!
