This year, with the 100+ degree temperatures, I had already decided that I would NOT be visiting the fair unless there was a dramatic change in the weather. Thankfully, the last couple days of the fair were beautiful and we took advantage of the nice weather. We just so happened to go on the day of Aubrey's meltdown. Thanks to a good nap and some excitement, our girl was happy as can be...until it was time for booth pictures. Poor girl was so excited to get in the booth that as she was running toward it, she tripped and fell, bumping her check on the side of the booth. :( We made a mini-ice pack out of an ice cube and wet wipe and got some funny pictures- a pout, a couple scowls and one cute little grin.
Overall, we had a great time. Some of her highlights were pretending to go "roping" like uncle Jed and riding the elephant again this year. She also enjoyed all of the animals-- with the exception of the cow. Somehow her obsession with the cow has turned into a fear...because you know, cows pee and no other animals do. ;) Oh, my random kid. We enjoyed spending time with Justin's family, especially since the crippling flu bug hit Alisha hard the next day. I don't think I've seen her since the fair. And though we didn't visit any of the rides I used to enjoy, while we were letting Aubrey ride two rides in kiddie land, I made a couple of observations: there was no need to look at cute boys- I already have the cutest one I know, the carnies still look like they could OD at any moment, and all the scary gangsta girls are still scary, just grown up, and now they're in kiddie land with their kids too. Ahhh, the Great Kern County Fair, some things never change. ;)

We love the fair too. We were supposed to go on Thursday as well, but that didn't happen. My husband was hoping I would bounce back and be able to go that night. HA. lol We had fun at the fair and I too look forward to the fair every year! :) We need to come see you now that the flu bug has flown from my house.
Pumpkin patch on Tuesday! I am so excited!
Barbie, you are so hilarious with your fair observations-- scary gangsta girls with their kids and the carnies OD-ing. Ha.
Glad you had fun and so funny that you called Aubrey random. She is too adorable.

Here in nyc its the bitter cold air and the fall leaves and christmas decorations in shop windows in late oct practicly!!
So I have to admit that I don't care much about the fair...but the picts from the last six years are totally cute and a great memory! Can you believe you'll have to fit four of you in there next year?
Oh I remember those high school fair days! Love that you have this tradition with your family- and love how happy Aubrey is to see the animals, RIDE the animals, and those booth pictures- can't wait to see next years. What a fun thing to do every year!
